Xplora to offer connectivity in France and the US
Oslo 25 May 2022 – Xplora Technologies AS (“Xplora”, “the Company”) has signed two partner wholesale agreements in France and the US, establishing Xplora as a mobile service provider in both markets in H2 2022.
Xplora has an announced strategy to extend connectivity services to key markets outside the Nordic region in 2022, moving from device-centric to solution- and service oriented and driving new, profitable revenue streams.
The agreements will allow Xplora to bundle our smartwatches with Xplora SIM cards and offer mobile connectivity services in the French and US markets, similar to Xplora’s well established and profitable business model in the Nordics. Xplora will leverage on these agreements by developing existing and targeting new retail distribution channels and offer bundled offerings with preinstalled SIMs and connectivity services in large online marketplaces.
Xplora is operating as a mobile service provider in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, and has reached a market penetration of nearly 6% in the Nordic markets combined and 17% in Norway. Nearly all Xplora smartwatches sold are bundled with Xplora SIM cards in the Nordics, allowing the customer to experience a smoother onboarding and driving improved customer satisfaction. The Company has announced a target of extending service provider operations to 1-3 new markets in 2022. Today´s announcement with the extension of mobile connectivity services to the French and US markets adds to the recent announcement of mobile connectivity services in the UK market and marks the second and third new market outside the Nordic region where Xplora will offer mobile connectivity in 2022.
“These two mobile connectivity agreements are a milestone in extending our highly successful and profitable mobile service provider model to two new vast markets with more than 33 million children in our target group” says Sten Kirkbak, CEO and Founder of Xplora. “Offering bundled connectivity is a key element of our growth strategy, driving growth, scalability, operating leverage and profitability in our business model.”
Commercial launch of the service under the US agreement is pending mandatory PTCRB and network operator device certification.
