Oslo 29 November 2022 – Xplora Technologies AS: Xplora is pleased to announce that it today is live as Mobile Service Provider in Spain, allowing bundling of Xplora´s leading smartwatches for kids with Xplora Connect SIM. The offering will be further extended to premium subscriptions.
As part of Xplora´s announced strategy to replicate its successful Nordic service provider model to key markets, Xplora entered into a Mobile Service Provider agreement with Alai Operador de Telecomunicaciones S.L.U. in Spain. Following a period of testing and calibration the Company is now live as Mobile Service Provider in Spain.
Including today’s announcement Xplora has launched Xplora Connect in 8 markets: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, the UK, Germany, France and Spain.
Spain is of strategic interest for Xplora, representing a large market potential with 3.1m children aged 4-10 years according to UN population data. The Spanish market for children’s smartwatches is less developed than the Nordic and German markets. Xplora has a presence in the Spanish market and will seek to further develop its market position by maximizing the Xplora Connect SIM connectivity ratio on smartwatch sales to drive profitability, penetration and agile market operations.
Xplora´s bundled connectivity service will be offered in retail channels through El Corte Ingles, online through Amazon and will be introduced in Xplora’s web shop. The connectivity offerings are tailored to the Company´s smartwatches:
- Flexible monthly subscription plan
- 12-month subscription plan
- 24-month subscription plan
- 12-month up-front payment subscription plan
The Xplora Connect offering will be further extended to premium subscription plans including access to Xplora´s upcoming Goplay platform services.
Xplora has an announced strategy to extend connectivity services to key markets outside the Nordic region in 2022, moving from device-centric to solution- and service oriented and thereby driving new, profitable revenue streams. Xplora has secured a growing base of 144k subscribers in the Nordic market, representing a penetration rate of 6.7% in the target market of kids aged 4-10. In Norway, the market where Xplora has the longest track record, Xplora has secured a penetration of 18.9%. Nearly all Xplora smartwatches sold are bundled with Xplora Connect SIM cards in the Nordics, allowing the customer to have a smoother onboarding and driving improved customer satisfaction.
